Analytical Technician – Specialty Chemicals Manufacturing (Direct Hire)
Location: Wallingford, Connecticut | On-site
Pay: $40.78/hr to start, rising to $44.78/hr within 18 months, plus shift differential
Schedule: Fixed shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) on a 6-days-on, 2-days-off rotating schedule

This role suits a hands-on lab professional with a chemistry background who wants to use specialized equipment, support R&D work, and grow with a stable, established manufacturer. It pays more than a standard lab technician role and offers room to move into higher-level positions over time.

What You'll Do
Reporting to the Quality Manager, you'll test production batch samples and help keep products within formula specifications.

• Run lab tests on raw materials, in-process samples, intermediates, and finished goods according to written methods
• Operate specialized analytical equipment and help bring new instruments online
• Monitor key chemical process parameters and recommend adjustments to correct deviations
• Review incoming raw material certifications and validate them against specifications
• Perform calculations, record results, and prepare certificates of analysis
• Clearly communicate test results and required actions to production teams
• Calibrate lab equipment, keep calibration records, and handle minor instrument repairs and modifications
• Prepare specialty standards and reagents for the QC and R&D labs
• Serve as backup for specialty testing in the R&D lab and support R&D and product improvement projects
• Carry out detailed, high-accuracy experiments and analyze data in Excel
• Weigh raw materials for batch additions, and prepare and ship product samples
• Manage lab supplies and inventory, and keep the lab clean and organized
• Prepare daily shift reports and QC backlog reports

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (required)
• 3–5 years of hands-on laboratory experience (required)
• Strong math and chemistry fundamentals, plus basic knowledge of SPC principles
• Accuracy and ability to multitask in a fast-paced lab
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English
• Basic computer skills; Excel data analysis is a plus
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction
• Flexibility with scheduling and willingness to work overtime as needed
• Comfort handling hazardous materials and working around strong chemical odors

Schedule and Pay Details

• Choose one fixed shift (no rotation between shifts):
  • 1st Shift: 8:00am – 4:00pm
  • 2nd Shift: 4:00pm – 12:00am (+$0.75/hr)
  • 3rd Shift: 12:00am – 8:00am (+$1.00/hr)
• The 6-on, 2-off schedule rolls forward each week
• Training runs 3–6 months on day shift, then you move to your assigned shift
• Built-in pay progression:
  • Start: $40.78/hr
  • 6 months: $42.78/hr
  • 12 months: $43.78/hr
  • 18 months: $44.78/hr

Physical Requirements
The role involves occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs, extended periods of sitting, and repetitive manual tasks such as keyboarding. It requires good (or corrected) vision and hearing, and the ability to read and write in English.
